Nigeria Escapes FIFA Ban
Nigeria yesterday escaped the wrath of FIFA as Justice Ambrose Allagoa of the Federal High court sitting in Jos, Plateau State, withdrew the suit filed against the Nigeria Football Federation by the Chris Giwa-led faction.
Read full report below as reported by Vanguard..
FIFA had given Nigeria up till mid day today, to put its football house in order or be banned, which may not have been reviewed until the board meeting in May next year.
Messrs. Obinna Ogba and Yahaya Adamu of the Giwa-led faction had dragged the immediate past President of NFF, Alhaji Aminu Maigari and the NFF General Secretary, Musa Amadu, to court seeking for orders to restrain Maigari (first defendant), the NFF (second defendant) and the 36 Football associations (third defendants) from conducting another election after the faction claimed that their principal was the duly elected president of the federation.
The judge had fixed Thursday for the ruling on whether he has jurisdiction to hear the case following the preliminary objection raised by the NFF defence counsel, Mr. Damon Dashe, who questioned the eligibility of the court to entertain the matter.
Dashe had on Monday filed a counter affidavit to the originating summons, saying that the court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the matter since the plaintiffs hearing was delayed because he was not properly served by the counsel for the plaintiff.
He had told the court that it was incumbent on it to hear the preliminary objection, which would guide it on the proper path to follow, adding that the prayers contained in the preliminary objection is for the court to strike it out “because the plaintiffs have submitted themselves to the NFF statutes.”
However at the sitting of the court yesterday, the judge announced the dismissal of the suit following the withdrawal of the suit by the plaintiffs.

Photos: Nigerian Girl Dies During Hips Enlargement Surgery In Thailand
24-year-old Joy Williams (pictured below), a British-Nigerian lady, has died after a butt enlargement surgery in Bangkok, Thailand, went wrong.
According to the Daily Mail, Joy's older brother, Anitie, while speaking from his residence in Lagos, Nigeria, said the family didn't even know she had traveled to Thailand.
Joy, who relocated to the UK from Nigeria in 2007 and lives with her mother in Thamesmead, died on October 23rd after visiting a clinic called SP Clinic in Thailand which she had found on the internet.
She initially visitied to the SP clinic, which she found on the internet, on October 14 to have the operation which she hoped would give her a bigger, fuller bottom.
A few days later her wounds became infected and she returned to have corrective surgery to remove the silicon implants.
But she was found dead on the operating table with a three inch-long stitched incision on her tail bone after medical staff found they were unable to resuscitate her.
Thai officials investigating her death believe her operation had been delayed to ensure Miss Williams had not eaten anything beforehand and that as a result the operation began after the clinic's legal closing time of 7pm.
It is believed Miss Williams had long struggled with her self-esteem and been bullied at school before choosing to undergo an operation on her nose to improve her looks.
While in Bangkok she had been staying at the £11-a-night Vabua Asotel hotel which is used by the clinic as accommodation for its patients.
The doctor who carried out the procedure, Sompob Sansiri, 51, was later arrested and accused of negligence after it was found that he had been carrying out night-time surgery without a licence.
He has now been charged with recklessness causing death and could face 10 years in jail if found guilty.
The clinic has been closed for 60 days while investigations are carried out. Thailand is a world-leader in cosmetic surgery tourism with many companies offering procedures at discounts of up to 60 per cent. The industry earned the country £2.68billion in 2013 alone.
One of Joy's friend who spoke with UK Telegraph said she had suffered bullying and low self esteem issues while they were in school and that she was never happy with herself.

She was a bit shy and quiet and I knew in later years there was something wrong and upsetting her. At school she had been bullied over her appearance and she went for surgery on her nose and face. Last time I saw her it was obvious she had had cosmetic surgery. She was fine before, she didn’t need to. She was fine the way she was but she just wasn’t happy. She had no self esteem and I guess she felt she needed to do it. She was just never happy with herself.”Police are now waiting for the postmortem result which would determine if the doctor will be charged for medical negligence.

Nigerian Dad Sues US School After Daughter Is Banned Over Ebola Fears
So, this Nigerian father, Stephen Opayemi, (pictured below) had to sue a school in US, Connecticut Elementary School, for discriminating against his 7-year-old daughter due to fears of Ebola.
According to him, his daughter was also banned from the school for 21 days after she returned from a wedding she attended in Nigeria, all thanks to irrational fears of Ebola.
Read below as reported by Reuters..
Stephen Opayemi filed the lawsuit in federal court in New Haven, Connecticut. He asked a judge to order the schools in Milford, Connecticut, to immediately permit his daughter to return to her third-grade class.
Opayemi's daughter has not experienced any symptoms associated with Ebola and her health is fine, but parents and teachers were concerned she could transmit Ebola to other children, the lawsuit says.
Nigeria had 20 Ebola cases and eight deaths this year before the World Health Organization declared the country Ebola-free on Oct. 19. The epidemic is centered in three other West African countries, where about 5,000 people have died: Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
The Connecticut third-grader, Ikeoluwa Opayemi, traveled to and from Lagos, Nigeria, between Oct. 2 and Oct. 13, according to the lawsuit. Her father, a native of Nigeria, also went.
Jonathan Berchem, the Milford city attorney, said he had not seen the suit and could not comment on it. Elizabeth Feser, the school superintendent, did not return a call requesting comment but said in an email she had not been served with the suit.
African communities in the United States have reported an increasing amount of ostracism since the Ebola epidemic began. At least two speeches by Liberians have been canceled by U.S. universities, and a college in Texas refused admission to Nigerian students over worries about the virus.
A neighbor of the Opayemi family, Prashant Batil, said his 6-year-old plays often with Ikeoluwa and that he believed the school system was overreacting.
Milford officials refused the father's offer to have both himself and his daughter screened for Ebola, the suit says.
According to the suit, a city health official said in an Oct. 15 meeting that the risk of the girl infecting anyone was minor but that she ought to be quarantined because of rumors, panic and the climate of the school.
City and school officials told Ikeoluwa not to return to school until Nov. 3, the suit says.
The case is Ikeoluwa Opayemi v. Milford Public Schools and City of Milford, U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, No. 3:14-cv-01597.

This was announced in a statement by PRNigeria, a media outfit with close sources in the security agencies.
The statement reads:
“A special team, comprising security agents, intelligence experts and officials of the ministry of foreign affairs has investigated the $9.3 million cash-for-arms deal and submitted its report to the presidency.
“The committee confirmed that the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, had no connection with the transaction.
“It was true that the CAN president’s jet was used but we found out that it was without his knowledge. As at the time in question, the aircraft was on lease. And you may be aware that the lease trend is peculiar to private jet owners in the country.
“It is the view of the committee that Oritsejafor cannot be held liable for any shuttle made by a lease firm.
“As for the manifest of the plane, the committee also discovered that the Niger Delta activist, Mujaheedin Asari-Dokubo, was not among those on board the transaction aircraft. There was no mention of Dokubo in the manifest presented during the investigation.”

Shocking Story: Woman Regains Freedom After Lover Kidnapped Her For 9 Years [Read]
This is a shocking story of a woman who was held captive for 9 years by her lover who wanted to marry her at all cost. She gave birth to four children while in captivity.
Read below as reported by the The Sun..
A woman from Delta State (names withheld by us) who was kidnapped nine years ago by her lover has miraculously regained her freedom.
The woman who lived in the Ikotun Egbe area of Lagos stepped out of her lover’s house with her four children for the first time in nine years. The woman said to be a graduate and speaks fluent English narrated her ordeal to the people in the area who gathered around to have a glim of her.
Sunday Sun was told by eye witnesses that the woman’s lover who hails from Ekiti State loved her so much and wanted to marry her but because her family was against the relationship, he decided to kidnap her for keeps, to keep her away from her parents. He later took her to a wooden house he built for her in Okerube area of Abaranje, Ikotun, Lagos.
Neighbours said the woman claimed not to have known where she was kept because her lover would go to the market to get food for her and her children very early in the morning and threatened that she would die if she stepped out of the house. When he leaves, he makes sure he locks the house so she had no way of coming out. Sunday Sun was told that it was in the wooden house that the woman gave birth to her four children while the husband acted as the midwife.
Three weeks ago, her lover fell ill and could not as usual go out to fetch food all through the period of his illness. Extremely starved and weak, the woman forced him out on Friday, October 24, 2014 to get what they would eat and drink before they all die of hunger and thirst. Luckily for her and the children, the man forgot to lock the house. It was at this point that the woman decided to urinate and was shocked to see what had happened around her.
When the people in the area discovered her, they came out in their numbers and started questioning her as they thought she was mad. She and her children were so much emaciated but from her responses and body language, they realized she and the children were okay and mentally sound.
While in forced confinement, she had taught the children their lessons such that they spoke very well when with their mother in the crowd. She remembered her sister’s contact and one of the sympathizers quickly put a call through to her. In about 30 minutes, the sister arrived at the scene and took her and the children away.
Eyewitnesses reported that her husband had not returned from the market when she was taken away. They said she was so upset at the forceful rescue that she was screaming at the top of her voice: “My husband oh, my husband!” thereby getting her sister angry and shouting back at her; “which yeye husband you dey call?”
A lady who lived in the neighborhood said the man built the wooden house near her house. Whenever people go near the place to see if anyone lives there, he would use a catapult and stone to hit them and chase them away.

“Anyone who tries to get close, this man will use catapult and stone to shoot them so people had to let him be thinking he was mentally unbalanced. We didn't even know he was living there with five people. When the man got back, he found the house empty. He began to shout, ‘’I hate human beings, that is why I isolated myself and my family from them.’’Can you imagine”?It is uncertain if the man is himself a graduate or if he is mentally stable but one thing is certain: He was not ready to set his “wife” free and was very upset when she left.
