PDP Governor Rejects Student Union Leader Because his Father is APC

The level of moral decadence in the Nigeria has gone from bad to worse to the extent that a State University student masquerading as a Comrade can just go the press and make unfounded allegations against a highly performing sitting governor in his desperate bid to blackmail him to declare their candidate the winner of student election even though he was roundly rejected at the pools.

A certain Comrade Muhd M. Liman (Dan Liman) threw moral to the Dogs and alleged that a “student union President Elect is being blocked by the ‘agents’ of the state, allegedly because his father is an All Peoples Congress leader (APC) leader” I have tried unsuccessfully to find out if there is any registered party known as “All Peoples Congress” in Nigeria.

For a student who has spent close to 8 years running a 4 year course in University without graduating, I wonder if his words can ever be taken seriously. What only worries me is his futile and mischievous attempt to drag an innocent man – Ibrahim Shehu Shema in to their misfortune of being rejected by the Katsina State Students that voted during the August 9th election.

There were 5 contenders for the office of the presidency of the Association. Due to the poor handling of the election by the electoral committee, there were allegation of electoral irregularities by the members of the Electoral Committee themselves which resulted in to a tie with the two leading candidates – Comr Kabir Ahmad AKA Nigerian Students and Comr. Abdulrahman Salihu Maska having 81 votes each.

The Electoral Committee members who were allegedly bought by Maska and his sponsors had mismanaged the election and it was marred by so many irregularities to the extent that votes got missing during counting!

How can a student who is supposed to be certified worthy in character first before learning went to town with damning false, baseless and unfounded allegation against a governor who had within the years he had stayed in office undertook so many transformational projects not only in the University the so called Comrade is studying for years without graduating but in every sector of the state economy if not for moral decadence? It is on record that Dr. Ibrahim Shehu Shema’s administration in Katsina state undertook projects worth billions of naira in the University which has made the state-owned University a Citadel of Learning befitting the 21st century standard university setting.

The same fraudulent electoral committee members after unsuccessfully waiting for a week to conduct a re-run election, mischievously and shamelessly declared the so called “President Elect” as the winner of the unconcluded election.  If I may ask the Kangaroo outgoing Vice President of the National Association of Katsina State Students (NAKATSS), of what interest will it serve His Excellency, Dr Ibrahim Shehu Shema if his preferred candidate is elected president of a student union? What harm would Maska bring to the Government of Dr. Shema had he been elected when more than 60% of the students rejected him? Who and how are the ‘agents’ of the state blocking the so called “President Elect”? What is his definition of “block” as used in his statement in defaming the Governor’s character? Is he too ignorant to know that, if the governor and the stakeholders have a choice to reject or accept whosoever is elected president of the student union as he alleged, there wouldn’t have been a need for the election?

Before I end my piece, let me advice Dan Liman to concentrate in his studies and graduate from the university instead of engaging in wild goose chase in his disparate bid to defame the character of a good man and fanning the embers of discord in the state as his mates who had graduated 4 years ago are already working and helping to develop their fatherland. Let me advise him in my capacity as a Senior Comrade, that violence is the only thing that destroys with it what it intends to create.

I will also advice the law enforcement agents to put this Kangaroo Comrade and his cronies on surveillance in case of possible outbreak of violence by students caused by his incitement.

He who has an ear let him hear, because a stitch in time saves nigh.

APC Tells Jonathan To Hand Over Exposed Boko Haram Sponsors To Int'l Criminal Court

President Jonathan is under pressure to expose the alleged people sponsoring the Boko Haram sect.

Jonathan urged to arrest Boko Haram sponsors, APC on Boko Haram Sponsors
APC National Chairman, John Oyegun

Following the exposure of alleged Boko Haram sponsors by Australian Hostage Negotiator, Stephen Davis, the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Oyegun, has told President Jonathan to arrest and hand them over to the International Criminal Court.

While speaking to journalists in Abuja yesterday, Oyegun said:
"The man who exposed the boko haram sponsors is a Jonathan appointed, paid, hostage negotiator so he definitely has no axe to grind. He was certainly not speaking on behalf of the APC because we didn't know he existed until out of frustration he finally decided to speak up. Now that the cat has been let out of the bag and the real sponsors of Boko Haram have been exposed, we hope President Jonathan is summoning the courage today to do what is right. Hand over the identified boko haram sponsors to the international criminal court for investigation and prosecution," he said.

"Super Eagles Can Beat Congo Without A Coach" — Former Coach Says

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to take on the DR Congo this weekend ahead or the 2015  African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

Super Eagles qualifiers match against DR Congo, James Peters says Super Eagles can beat Congo

And according to former Super Eagles Coach, James Peters, the Eagles can comfortably beat Congo without a coach.

He added that the team would still deliver at their best despite the current crisis rocking the Nigerian Football Federation.
“I am so pleased that the rancour in our football will not in any way affect the team because I am optimistic that as long as the players report to camp and train they will certainly carry the day. They are professionals who are playing regularly in their clubs.
“Our boys are mostly playing in Europe, they are not playing in any of those obscure leagues and that means that they can even beat Congo and even South Africa without a coach”.
He also praised Stephen Keshi for accepting to guide the team through the qualifiers match despite not signing a new contract with the football federation.
“Keshi has demonstrated that he is a true patriot and that is why he accepted to come and handle the team without a contract”.
He however, advised football's ruling body, FIFA, to be careful when dealing with African countries saying it  is difficult to run football effectively without the support of the government.
Jonathan's Hostage Negotiator Puts Him In A Tight Corner

Jonathan's Hostage Negotiator Puts Him In A Tight Corner

President Goodluck Jonathan’s hostage negotiator, Dr Stephen Davis, has done Nigerians a great favour and put his employer in a tight corner, according to reports by Vanguard.

Jonathan's hostage negotiator puts Jonathan in tight corner, Dr Stephen Davis
Dr. Stephen Davis

Davis has broken the official taboo against naming names of persons behind Boko Haram, those who fund the ceaseless bloodbaths, abduction of adolescent girls as sexual slaves, arson and more.

We owe Davis a debt of gratitude for letting us know more than our government has been willing to disclose: the mere geographical location of the Chibok girls coupled with the rote assurance of their safety.

The utter secrecy surrounding what the government is doing or not doing to free the Chibok girls or end the insurgency has led to the unfortunate impression that it is helpless and all we can do is wait for Abubakar Shekau to become human again, renounce violence and lay down his arms. Or wait for the United States to send us night vision goggles and remaindered equipment from its wars in Iraq and Afghanistan before a proper anti-terrorism war can begin.

Davis spoke first to a television station in Australia and then to a Nigerian medium, Arise Television. On 29 August, ThisDay published Davis’s revelations under the headline “Australian Negotiator Names Ihejrika, Sheriff as Sponsors of Boko Haram.” Davis points with the certitude of a chief prosecution witness to two highly placed citizens: retired Lt-General Azubuike Ihejirika, former Chief of Army Staff and field commander of the offensive against Boko Haram, and Alhaji Modu Sheriff, former governor of Borno State where Shekau has his headquarters and has planted the first flag of his dreamed Caliphate.

The evidence against Azubuike appears thin, but Sheriff, Davis says, “has been funding Boko Haram’s terrorism for years.” Davis has also pointed to an unnamed third person in Abuja whose three nephews allegedly participated in the Nyanya-Abuja bombing that killed 77 people. In his interview with SaharaReporters, the New York-based online news platform, Davis gives further details concerning this man by claiming that he is a top official of the Central Bank and Boko Haram’s banker.

To my mind, other than the surprise mention of Ihejirika, the real news is the proof by inference Davis gives of the charge that the government may indeed have been playing politics with the terrorist insurgency that has laid waste to vast swathes of the North East, killed thousands and scarred millions.

This is not the first time Sheriff’s name would be linked to Boko Haram, but whereas we could only watch as the government camp and the opposition traded accusations of playing politics with the insurgency, Davis, in the final analysis, has now indicted the President. Mostly through his underlying tone of incredulity as to why Boko Haram’s sponsors have not been arrested, why the SSS “doesn’t seem inclined to interrogate” the three nephews of the Abuja man for “concrete evidence against their uncle in whose house they were living.”

The implications of his words must have been clear to Davis, hence, I suspect, his attempt to absolve his employer of blame. If Jonathan arrests prominent politicians who are likely to run against him in 2015, he would lay himself open to the charge of hounding the opposition to enhance his re-election.  To deflect that charge, he says, there has to be “a very high threshold” of evidence sufficient to “keep the Western nations happy.”

This can’t be higher than the normal weight of evidence to sustain a criminal charge and it is obvious that Davis is convinced the threshold was reached a long time ago. According to ThisDay, Davis “was emphatic that the people he names are current sponsors of Boko Haram,” that he had information on “some of them about three years ago; one of them four years ago,” and that one even provided “money and . . . in one case . . . six (Toyota) Hilux vehicles used for suicide bombing.”

Yet, by the end of Davis’s testimony, the line between the bad opposition politicians and the good government is blurred. Sheriff, now the de facto poster-politician allegedly sponsoring Boko Haram, has decamped to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party “in the hope this will give him protection.” What other course of action does Jonathan have now than to order the immediate arrest of all the persons that his hostage negotiator claims are the chief sponsors of Boko Haram?

And to charge them to court forthwith? Unless, of course, his hostage negotiator is a rabble rouser, in which case we must wonder how and why he has worked for three successive presidents. It can’t be the case that the evidence that emboldens Davis to name names is unavailable to Jonathan and his security and intelligence heads.

Jonathan must know that failure to act would give credence to the opposition’s counter-claim: a conviction that the insurgency was fomented by his political enemies to make the country ungovernable and prevent his re-election, but that the plot boomeranged and so it is best left unaddressed in order to gain him sympathy votes. My hunch is that Davis, an independent contractor, spoke at the bidding of the President, but even if he acted independently in order to force Jonathan’s hand, that should not prevent decisive action against any suspected Boko Haram sponsor, irrespective of party affiliation or status, against whom prima facie evidence can be adduced. All that is needed is political will.
