Getting married is one thing, another thing is staying married. In our today's society, the latter has turned out to be where most families fail. Keeping a marriage alive should be a collective effort of both parties and not a one person's effort.
Nobody wants to invite friends to their marriage ceremony only to get divorced after a couple of months or years. Everyone wants to get married and 'stay' married.
Here, we'll talk about 3 factors that are mostly behind most broken marriages and how such situations can be prevented.
1). A Submissive Wife And A Respectful Husband:
Just like the Holy Bible says, "wives, be submissive to your husbands. And husbands, respect your wives." This is one biblical law when not adhered to, gives birth to many dangerous family chaos. The Bible explicitly warns wives to be submissive to their husbands while husbands should respect their wives.
It is a natural thing that men always feel in control, that's how God created it. No matter who a woman might be out there, back home, she owes her husband all the respect, even if she earns a far higher income than him.
Being submissive here doesn't mean 'slavery.' It is a mutual thing because the husband in return respects her as demanded by God. When you start making your husband feel lesser, thereby, projecting the scenario that you're in control, you're putting your marriage/home at risk of breaking down.
A wife that wins all arguments with her husband is not wise. The home is not a law court. Avoid it.
2). Primitive Beliefs Or Inequality Gender:
One major reason why marriages collapse or get sour is because most men have not transited from our grandfathers’ era when the man was the lord and the wife was there solely to do the man’s wishes and make him happy by giving him s*x, children, and services like cooking, washing, and maintaining the home.
The man had the right to beat his wife, lock her up, send her away, have as many wives as he wished, sleep with as many mistresses as he liked, father as many children as he liked, without the wife complaining. The society gave the man a blank cheque to do as he wished so long as he provided for his wife and children. It was completely a man’s world. A wife had no opinion.
She dared not talk when her master was talking or join him in a discussion with his friends, his family or kinsmen.
The truth is that, a wife has 101% right over her husband. In as much as she's entitled to be submissive, she's also obligated to make vital opinions where and when necessary.
It's high time men stop seeing women as just s*x toys or chores mercenaries. A woman has a great gender. She's feminine because you (man) cannot do without her. Don't make her feel less human. God created her to be your respectable companion, not your slave.

DeleteGood submission, Kay. However a small correction: biblically the husband is supposed to love the wife and the wife is supposed to submit to her husband. Though respect is not mentioned, it is expected from both spouses. But when it comes to specific roles biblically enshrined, it is the wife firstly submitting to her husband and the husband loving his wife.

It is a mutual thing because the husband in return respects her as demanded by God," so..... it's already in my context that the respect shared is mutual however, it is ultimate that the wife be submissive to her husband.
