Nigerian troops might have recorded a great victory in the current battle against terrorists operating in the North East on September 17.
Abubakar Shekau |
It is understood that the man who had been mimicking Abubakar Shekau in recent videos released by Boko Haram might have been finally killed during the war between the sect and Nigerian troops on September 17.
The Nigerian troops have been trying to capture Konduga following the sect's attempt to capture Maiduguri but it has been revealed that 'Shekau' has been finally killed.
According to a senior military and intelligence source:
"It is getting more certain that the terrorists' commander who has been mimicking Shekau in those videos is the one killed in Konduga on September 17, 2014.
"The process of confirming that the dead body we have is the same as that character who has been posing as Shekau is ongoing. He is definitely a prominent terrorist commander. I don't want to say anything about this yet please."According to another high ranked military source, it is not a coincidence as the allegedly killed Shekau has a striking resemblance with the wanted sect leader. He cited his facial marks, beards and teeth apart from the recovery by the Nigerian troops of some of the Armoured Vehicles and Hilux jeeps that had featured in previous videos of the prime suspect.
Meanwhile, the officers assured that the Defence Headquarters will release a statement after full investigation of their latest discovery has been made.
