Earlier this evening, reports circulated from Premium Times and Nigerian Times that two buses which were seen driving into Maimalari barracks carried 'just-released' Chibok school girls who were abducted by Boko Haram.
Regarding the rumour, Sahara Reporters managed to get a more precise information from a government source in Maiduguri which revealed that the girls which we were seen escorted in two Hiace buses into the Maimalari barracks, the headquarters of the 7th Division of the Nigerian army with heavily armed soldiers were actually Chibok school girls but those who had earlier escaped from Boko Haram militants, not newly rescued girls.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Defence Headquarter updated just over an hour ago on its official twitter page that the people who were escorted in the buses were 'other individuals.'
See tweet below.
The Story circulating in respect of release of the #Chibok girls is untrue. Buses drove into the barracks but conveyed other individuals. RT
