Shocking scene as residents of Bankole Street, Isheri-Oke, Lagos, woke up this morning to see a woman hanging on a tree.
The woman, known as Kate, was dressed in a black sweater and orange skirts (pictured above.)
According to reports, residents of the area started avoiding the Liberian woman following the outbreak of Ebola in Lagos which was introduced by late Patrick Sawyer who hailed from the same country - Liberia.
Matters got worse for her when she fell ill and became totally discriminated and isolated from the community by residents of the area. This is understood to be the reason why she took her own life out of frustration.
A resident of the area who preferred to stay anonymous said:
"We see her in this neighbourhood every day. I used to see her every day in the dress she died in.She always looked sick but people stopped selling to her after the Ebola outbreak. It could be because she was Liberian and looked sickly. This might have frustrated her.”
