16 Students Nabbed During Initiation Into Secret Cult Group In Ogun State

The Ewekoro Police Division in Ogun State yesterday, arrested 16 student-cultists at the point of initiation. Among the nabbed students included students of a polytechnic in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.


According to a statement released by Muyiwa Adejobi, the Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, the detectives who apprehended the cultists acted on intelligence information they gathered about the activities of certain cult groups operating in the area of which they timely stormed in and burst their initiation party.

He said:
“Those arrested included Akintunde Paul, Seyi Meshinoye, Fowoshade Gbemisola, Dare Olabode, Oyetayo Bolaji, Akintunde Femi, Ajibola Abiola, Amosun Eniola, Shola Ogunniyi, Fashina Michael, Bello Oyedeji, Adeshola Amore, Ebi Victor, Ogunsola Ibrahim, Babatunde Allyson and Awobajo Babatunde.
“The suspects have declined to mention the group or confraternity they belong to and this calls for further investigation.
“Some of the weapons or items recovered from them at the initiation ground included guns, charms, cutlasses, broken bottles, axes and others.
“The suspects have been transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran, Abeokuta for further interrogation as directed by the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, CP Ikemefuna Okoye.
“The commissioner has, therefore, warned others who are cultists to desist from such destructive activities as the command will not spare anyone caught in the act or anyone seen or perceived or caught for sponsoring the groups in the state.
“The commissioner has directed that the suspects be charged to court immediately after investigation. They will soon appear in courts.”
