Murtala Nyako impeached |
Following the report of a seven-man panel of inquiry set up to investigate the allegations of financial misconduct staged against the Governor of Anambra State, Murtala Nyako and his Deputy, Bala Ngilari,
the Adamawa State House of Assembly has impeached the state governor while his deputy had earlier resigned.
The deputy governor, who refused to appear before the panel when summoned, had expressed concern on the process that gave birth to the establishment of the investigation panel, citing it as his main reason for refusing to appear before the panel to defend himself on allegations of improper conduct against him.
The governor also refused to appear to the panel but that didn't stop the panel from continuing with their investigations which subsequently found the pair guilty.
Meanwhile, the House Speaker has been immediately sworn in as the Acting Governor of the state.
