Boko Haram threatens to attack Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Governemnt claims it had received text messages from Boko Haram terrorist group threatening to attack major public places in the state.


 According to a statement issued on Friday evening by Mr Aniekan Umanah, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, the terrorist said they will strike public places like markets, schools, churches, etc.

He urged the masses to be very conscious and do not hesitate to report any suspicious movements around them.

He also told residents not to panic and advised them to go about their different businesses as the government will do all they can to ensure peace is maintained in the state as they have already deployed sufficient security agencies and surveillance to step up security measures.
