19-Year-Old Boy Jailed For Defiling A 3-Year-Old Girl In A Church

A 19-year-old boy has been jailed in Ibadan for allegedly defiling a 3-year-old girl in a church.

According to a statement released by the Oyo State Police Command, the suspect who was identified as Arogundade Opeyemi was accused of having carnal knowledge of his 3-year-old neighbour's daughter inside a church in Kuola area of Apata, Ibadan, Oyo State on August 2nd.

The police also disclosed that the suspect suspect took the girl inside the church around 8 pm under the pretense of playing with her as usual.

The police PPRO, Mrs. Olabisi Clet-Ilobanafor, said:

“The suspect laid the little girl on the floor in the church, tore her pant and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her. Immediately he perpetrated the act, he ran away, leaving the crying girl on the floor of the church. When her mother heard her outcry, she rushed out to inquire from her daughter what had happened and she gesticulated by touching her private part and mentioning the suspect’s name.”

She also confirmed medical report which said that the little girl's hymen had been broken, adding that there was an area of the vulva that had suffered trauma which confirms how horrible the defilement was.

“Detectives hunted for the suspect and he was eventually arrested.

“The suspect has been arraigned in a magistrate court for an offence of defilement which is contrary to and punishable under section 218 of the criminal code cap 38 vol. 11 Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000,” the police statement said.
