Prophet TB Joshua is reputed for healings |
In a bid to combat a possible spread of the Ebola virus in Nigeria from infected people of other affected countries, the Lagos state government on Sunday urged the General Overseer of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCON), Prophet TB Joshua not to accept ebola victims in his church.
The Lagos State Ministry of Health accompanied by officials of the Federal Government visited the Prophet and asked him not to accept victims of the deadly virus for healing as they're aware infected persons might want to visit him for healing thereby, spreading the virus in the process.
The Synagogue Church of All Nations is popularly regarded as a healing center for the sick. People fly in from various parts of the world for healing, including a large crowd from the West African countries currently hit with the ebola epidemic.
Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, said the government are working hard to make sure infected persons do not sneak into the country and spread the virus.
He told the Prophet,
“We have our strategies that we intend to share with you. Again, we need to know the resources you have here because whether it is one or two cases, if they are allowed to get out, it is a major problem. We are here to work together on how to contain this disease.”Another member of the delegation who visited the SCON, Professor Abdulsalami Nasidi, the Director of Centre for Disease Control (CDC), said the visit was also to inform the church board about how deadly the Ebola virus is and to make sure it does not in any way escape into the country.
“We are here to engage you positively, we know the powers of this House and your powers and we are duty- bound to protect you and your congregation. We have no doubt the power God has given you, we can’t do that, but we want to help and make it work stronger,” Nasidi said.
